The beginning of the town is dated back from the year 974. The most significant place of the town is the castle from the second half of the 10th century, located on rocky bulge near the confluence of the rivers Jizera and Klenice. In the castle exposition are placed the most valuable collections of the regional museum. In the Old Town was opened to the public The newly reconstructed Gothic citizen’s palace (called Templ) in the Old Town was opened to the public in the year 2000. In its interiors the visitors get acquainted with the history of the town since the primeval times till the year 1600. Unique expositions (e.g. the hymn books of Mladá Boleslav – Mladoboleslavský kancionál) can be seen via interactive multimedia programs. Recent face of the town is represented by the most advanced European car factory.
