Kroměříž

Kroměříž is situated on the middle stream of the river Morava, in the middle of fertile fields of the Haná region. The town is mentioned already in 1110, when the bases of the union with the representatives of the Roman-catholic church were laid.  In 1777 the town with its chateau and its beautiful parks became a residence of the bishops of Olomouc. The following development of the town was in influenced to a certain extent by the year 1848, when the session of the Reichstag took place here in order to work out the constitution for all the nations in the Habsburg monarchy. The archbishop’s chateau, the Květná Garden and the Podzámecká garden have been included in the UNESCO list.
