Švihov

A Late Gothic water castle of Půta Švahovský of Rýzmberk from the late 15th century, constructed according to the project by Benedict Ried. After the Thirty Years War changed into a granary, in the 19th century deserted. Historical interiors decorated with wall paintings and installation of residential rooms of the 16th century (a chapel with a collection of Gothic sculptures, an armoury, a dancing hall with a unique panel ceiling etc.). An exposition of Gothic art from the collections of the National Gallery in Prague. The castle with its fortification water system belonged to the best forts of that time.
