Písek

Originally a Gothic royal castle from the 14th century, gradually rebuilt into a town hall and a brewery, in the 18th century a Baroque town hall and barracks built. The other parts demolished, except for the preserved western wing. Historical interiors (a knights hall decorated with wall paintings), a museum exposition - the history of the town, the history of educational system and the cultural development in the Písek region. Fishes and pisciculture with lively fish in aquariums. Gold washing on the river Otava. The museum obtained the price “the Museum of Europe” in 1996.
