The ZOO is located about 10 kilometres from Olomouc in a wavy terrain of Svatý kopeček (Holy Hill) in the area of meadows and spruce forests. The area is extensive, but a walk in the slightly hilly terrain can be very comfortable and pleasant. There are substantial possibilities of buying refreshment and souvenirs. One of the attractions is a lookout tower, enabling a view of the distance of 50 km in case of a nice weather. Parking is situated in front of the entrance gate.

Specialization: Giraffes and African cloven-hoofed animals, mountain goats, lemurs, and gibbons. The ZOO has a significant merit in preservation of the genetic resources by re-introduction of addax from Morocco, and re-introduction of white storks into open nature. It has also prepared basic information for establishment of the pedigree books of Siberian ibex and west Caucasian ibex. It participates in 26 European breeding programs of the EEP.
Breeds: 394 mammals in 91 species, 276 birds in 54 species, 55 reptiles in 16 species, 40 amphibians in 4 species, 354 fish in 33 species, 87 invertebrates in 32 species.
The most significant species: Royal rowan, vulture, black stork, Rothschild’s giraffe, south African oryx, addax, wolf, Malayan bear, Sumatra tiger, Siberian ibex, west Caucasian ibex, black lemur, small loris, black gibbon and others. The number of the breeding species listed in the Red Book of endangered animals: 17, the number of the breeding species endangered in Czech nature: 10.
Recommended visit: Expositions of aquariums and vivariums, big aviary for birds of prey, big aviary for waders, pavilions for small carnivores, pavilion of wolves, exposition of reindeer, pavilion of apes.
Rarity: Aquarium (volume of 17 000 litres) with three sharks. Pavilion of bats is planned in the nearest future.
