Open air museums
How did people live in the past? Regional folk architecture arranged in a typical village with little houses furnished with original furniture, which used to be typical in the region. Several times a year such a place revives during various festivals featuring folk costumes, folk music and dance as well as tempting delicacies of Czech cuisine. When we watch women in traditional costumes near the oven, we forget that we are actually in a natural museum of folk buildings.
Kouřim
The folk architecture museum in Kouřim is unique in the Czech Republic. It does not focus on only one type of dwelling, but is a collection of different architectural styles from the whole of Bohemia. The buildings you can find here represent periods from the 17th to the 19th century.

Přerov nad Labem
Ethnographic Museum of the Polabí area. The museum is one of the oldest regional museums in Europe (established in 1900). It represents village architecture of the 18th century, displaying period equipment.

Rožnov pod Radhoštěm
Wallachian museum in nature. This town is the centre of the Wallachian region, whose inhabitants keep traditions of their ancestors to these days. Strážnice
Institute of folk culture. The museum of a southeastern Moravian village has been open to the public since 1981. The visitors can see village complexes, such as Moravské Kopanice, Luhačovické Zálesí, Horňácko, technical water buildings, the complex of viticulture and the complex of meadow agriculture. Třebíz u Slaného
If you want to get a picture of how a typical Central European village looked 200 years ago, go to Třebíz. It is not far from Prague and there is a totally different air here to that in the big city.

Veselý kopec
A complex of folk buildings called Vysočina (Highlands) is located in Žďárské Vrchy. The visitors can see a beautiful collection of folk buildings; take part in Eastern and Christmas markets, which regularly take place here.

Zubrnice
