In addition to its ruggedly beautiful landscapes, this region is also famous for glass production and costume jewellery, the origins of which reach as far back as the 14th century. The most beautiful examples of Jablonec costume jewellery can be found in the local museum. The collections are so comprehensive that three buildings are needed to house them. Exhibitions of glass, medals, pearls, buttons and other accessories are gathered together in a wonderful Art Nouveau building just outside the town centre.
