A great combination of spa relaxation and winter sports!

Planning a winter spa trip, but also enjoy skiing? Then go to Mariánské Lázně, because apart from baths, massages, mineral waters and other spa therapies, you’ll also have an excellent opportunity to go skiing. The Mariánky Ski Complex is located on the north-eastern periphery of the town.

A place for beginners and competitive skiers

If you only know Mariánské Lázně as a spa town full of parks, colonnades, pretty pavilions and leisurely strolls, you’ll be surprised by the rich variety of winter activities. The local golf course serves as the starting-point for the maintained cross-country skiing circuits; downhill skiers have their own patch below the Krakonoš Hotel and Hamelika lookout tower on the Slalomář and Krakonoška hillsides.

What’s on offer at the ski complex

The ski complex has 1.6 km of pistes. A cabin-lift transports skiers up Krakonoška and the entire complex is fitted with snow production systems. The complex also includes a an easy piste for teaching beginners, including a children’s ski tow, children’s area, moving surface and modern teaching tools, rental, service and ski schools for adults and children. A ski bar and restaurant are located at the lower terminus of the cabin-lift. Floodlights also facilitate evening skiing. During the winter months there are also many sporting and social events, for example New Year on snow, the ‘Ski open’ slalom race, open to the general public, and, at the end of March, the season-ending ‘Final Ski’.

Spa pleasures

Although skiing brings with it fun and unique experiences, it is physically demanding. Where better to relax than at a spa? In Mariánské Lázně you can take your pick from a wide variety of services and balneological procedures, including swimming-pools, saunas and wellness centres; spa hotels offer stays with diverse focuses. Also quite pleasant is a normal stroll along the main colonnade. Banish your weariness after a session on the pistes in the Roman baths and get a taste of the historic atmosphere, supplemented with modern wellness procedures.

Summer on the hillside

The Mariánky Ski Complex doesn’t hide away in the winter. The cabin-lift to Hotel Krakonoš goes every quarter of an hour and transports cyclists as well as hikers; bicycles are carried free-of-charge. If you rent one of the special mountain scooters, you can follow the maintained forest routes, or the pistes themselves, from the upper terminus of the ski lift. There is also an education trail leading between the two ski lift termini.
