Are you spending your winter holidays with your family? Are you beginners at downhill skiing? Do you like unusual sporting experiences or long-distance skating? If you answered yes to all of these questions, there is no better choice for you than the Lipno Ski Resort in the heart of the Šumava Mountains in South Bohemia. Here you’ll find an ideal setting for downhill and cross-country skiing, the longest skating track in the world, a skicross track, a snow park, and also a wellness hotel where you can completely unwind after an active day. What more could you wish?

The ski resort is located right next to the Lipno Reservoir, which is the largest one in the Czech Republic. Here you will find nine safe slopes with a total length of more than 8 kilometres with high-quality snow. You can get to top comfortably on one of the three four-seater chairlifts.

A little adrenaline and lots of fun

The Lipno Ski Resort still offers much more! Its motto is “the perfect family holiday”, and so for the kids there are two teaching courses with carpet lifts, a ski carousel and a fairytale slalom. Instruction is happily provided by the local ski school. For snowboard enthusiasts there is a snow park where you can test your skills on two jumps and obstacles including a kink box, dance floor and rail. What about trying something a little different for a while? Just take a slight turn away from the slopes and you will suddenly find yourself on a gentle skicross track whose layout promises a veritable mountain of fun. Here you can zoom among obstacles modelled from snow or around banked turns. Short and simple: You certainly won’t get bored here!

Set off on the longest skating track in the world!

If you are a cross-country enthusiast you will also find what you are looking for here. Just put on your skis and set off on 40 kilometres of machine-groomed trails from which you will see many beautiful parts of the Šumava countryside. Do you like skating? Then you could not find any better place than Lipno! As soon as freezing weather arrives and the ice on the Lipno Reservoir reaches a safe thickness, you can swap your skis for skates and head to this 11-kilometre skating track – the longest in the world. And don’t worry, of course you can rent skates here. How best to unwind after a day full of winter fun? You can warm up in the sauna world of the Frymburk Hotel. They will pamper you here with a pleasant chocolate massage, an exotic body wrap or other beauty treatments which you simply deserve when you’re on holiday.

Where else to go?

During your holidays in the Šumava it would truly be a tourist sin not to visit Český Krumlov, which is located just a few kilometres from Lipno and is one of the most beautiful European cities on the UNESCO World Heritage List. You can delight your taste buds in the world-famous city of Český Budějovice, home of the original Budvar (Budweiser) beer. Or let the spirit of the Middle Ages sweep you away in the magnificent spaces of the Cistercian monastery in Zlatá Koruna.
