Location:
The ZOO is situated in the Lochotín Park; it includes an arboretum and numerous botanical expositions, which are combined with the zoological expositions. The botanical greenhouse presents unique collections of succulent plants and reptiles from three different parts of the world. The parking place is located in front of the entrance gate, refreshment can be obtained in the ZOO complex. Another part of the ZOO is the AKVA-TERA exposition in the centre of Pilsen (Palackého nr.5)

Established:
In 1926, in 1963 reopened on the area of the resent complex. The botanical garden was established in 1961, in 1981 the ZOO and the botanical garden were connected.

The most significant species:
22 species within the European Salvage Program – such as the Humboldt penguin, the Rothschild maina, the maned wolf, the lion rhesus monkey, the vari lemur, bison, musk ox, the southern pudu, the Chinese alligator. Attractions: the Berber lion, the spurred turtle, gibbons, the lemur kata, pelicans, leopards, wolves, kangaroos…
Recommended visit:
A 19th century farmstead with domestic animals and ancient implements, an educational trail on the theme of Quaternary with an outlet for brown bears covering one hectare, “The Mysterious World of African Night pavilion, a free-range outlet for chimpanzees, monkey islands… Take advantage of the possibility to ride on camels, the “U lemura souvenir shop, the African restaurant and refreshment in the “Siberian Log Cabin”. The “Sklípkan”(Bird Spider) Magazine.
Rarity:
Monitor, the biggest saurian to be found in the world. The stock pair donated by the president of Indonesia in 1997.
