Location: Sedlec-Prčice (end of the march)
Organizer: Czech Hiking Club, Prague – Prčice section
This year will be the 47th year of the Prague – Prčice March. This is the most famous organised long-distance march in the Czech Republic. Just like every year, participants can choose from several routes. The march can be undertaken in a traditional manner on foot, but other alternatives have been prepared for cyclists, people in wheelchairs and parents with children.
Practical jokers who set out on 17 April 1966 to master a distance of 100,000 Czech ells are to blame for the birth of the march. Almost five hundred of them set out into the picturesque Czech countryside and they were able to establish a tradition of the largest long-distance march to have been held every year without interruption.
We can no longer imagine the current marches without the usual trophies, plastic boots. The first boots were metal and were taken home by participants starting in 1973. These were replaced by the plastic boot we know after four years and this changes colour every year.
Tickets: only at the start of the marches
