Fans of classical music performed by the Czech Philharmonic will be catered for at the very start of the New Year. The performance at the Rudolfinum conducted by the chief conductor Eliahu Inbal will include the Symphony in D major K 385 “the Haffner Symphony” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and The Song of the Earth by Gustav Mahler.
Together with this orchestra, you will also hear the mezzo-soprano Bernarda Fink and the tenor Stephen Gould.
The very first concert ever of the Czech Philharmonic was performed on 4 January 1896 at the Rudolfinum. Its first conductor was Antonín Dvořák. In 1919, the position of chief conductor was taken over by Václav Talich, a world-class conductor. Several famous personalities such as Rafael Kubelík and Václav Neumann have taken up his legacy since.
In the current 114th season, the conductor’s stand is filled by Eliahu Inbal.
With its high quality sound, the orchestra has earned a place on leading international stages and the amount of travelling the orchestra does speaks for itself. CD recordings are also successful and literally sell like hot cakes, above all on the Japanese market.
