In 2010 the Czech cultural world will mark an important anniversary relating to Karel Hynek Mácha - it will be two centuries since the poet, regarded as the founder of modern Czech poetry, was born (16. 11. 1810). Mácha’s life and work had a significant effect on the development of literature in the Czech lands, and his influence is still evident to this day.
