Location:
The ZOO is located in the charming valley of the river Jihlavka, almost in the very centre of the town. A part of the expositions is located on a wavy terrain, but the paths run through a plain terrain and walking is very comfortable here. In the ZOO complex there is a children’s playground with a contact children’s ZOO, refreshment, a sweetshop and a souvenir shop. Parking is situated at the end of the Brněnská St.

Specialization:
Rare and endangered species of reptiles, small felidae, lemurs, monkeys, and other primates. The ZOO presides the TAG for reptiles of the European Association of Zoological Gardens and Aquariums (EAZA). The ZOO has a significant merit in preservation of genetic resources, especially in the re-introduction of wildcats and European lynx. It participates in 13 European breeding programmes of the EEP.
Breeds:
177 mammals in 44 species, 60 birds in 16 species, 80 reptiles in 22 species, 46 fish in 9 species, 500 invertebrates in 10 species.
The most significant species:
Blue-tongue, iguana, lemur, marmoset, cercopithecoid, gibbon, Arabic cat, red lynx, Persian and Ceylonese catamount, snow catamount, Sumatra tiger, catamount. The number of the breeding species listed in the Red Book of endangered animals: 21, the number of the breeding species endangered in Czech nature: 3.

“Exotariums” – apes and reptiles, pavilion of carnivores, free runs of lynx and catamounts, islands of lemurs, Amazon tropical pavilion.
Rarity:
The ZOO has a large collection of felidae, the biggest collection of monkey species in the Czech Republic. It is the only ZOO in the Czech Republic, which breeds toxicophidia (poisonous snakes).
