The ZOO is located in the town centre on a sandstone hill called “Pastýřská stěna”, surrounded by a town wood park. It is reachable by walk, by car or by lift from the left bank of the river Labe. In the ZOO complex, there is a children’s playground, refreshment possibility and souvenirs stalls; a restaurant is situated nearby.

Specialization:
Rare and endangered animal species from the whole world and the Czech Republic. The ZOO mainly concentrates on species, which are rarely bred in Czech zoological gardens. It participates in the Committee for breeding of rare cockatoos species and also breeds rare and endangered species of Czech nature, such as heath grouse, capercailzie and owls. It participates in 7 European breeding programmes of the EEP.

130 mammals in 35 species, 111 birds in 45 species, 5 reptiles in 3 species.
The most significant species:
Grizzly bear, jaguarondi, big raven, Lori species, cockatoos and others. The number of breeding species listed in the Red Book of endangered animals: 17, the number of breeding species endangered in Czech nature: 11.

Anyone who enjoyed playing at soldiers as a kid, who loves history, or who just wants to see something special should certainly head for the South Moravian town of Slavkov u Brna at the end of November. Here, the re enactment of the famous Battle of the Three Emperors will take place. Nearly a thousand enthusiasts will do battle in period uniforms.
