Dear friends of the Czech Republic!
The end of the summer holidays always brings with it a touch of nostalgia, so why not indulge in a bit of this pleasant nostalgic mood? Walking through the colourful autumn countryside, sitting over a glass of wine and attending evening concerts seem to be made for just that…
20 years since the fall of the Iron Curtain to be commemorated at a memorial concert
The 20th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution is to be commemorated in Prague by artists of several generations at a grand memorial concert. On 17 September, just as in the year 1989, students will meet to set out on a peaceful march through Prague. The march will end on the street Národní třída, where a concert featuring unusual dramaturgy prepared by the famous Czech musician Roman Holý will take place. There will be appearances by artists who were forced to conform their work to the regime’s dictate as well as young performers who will share what living and creating in a free world without barriers means for them.
Prague Castle is the most visited place in the Czech Republic
Prague Castle is the favourite tourist attraction in the Czech Republic. In 2008, the castle was visited by 1.34 million people. The Prague Zoo is the only other destination to exceed the 1 million visitors mark, while the Babylon entertainment complex in Liberec is the leading location outside Prague within the Czech Top 10. The results were published by the CzechTourism agency in August.
