Rain may have soaked the start of the holiday season, but now the weather seems to be coming to its senses and indulging us with a summer as it should be. If by chance that goes wrong now and then, in addition to invitations to favoured wine harvest festivals and beer celebrations we can also suggest to you some interesting exhibitions.

Rabi Loew and Jewish Prague

From 5 August to 8 November 2009, the large exhibition Path of Life, which can be found at the Emperor’s Stables at Prague Castle, will commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of the Maharal of Prague, the renowned Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel. The exhibition will focus on both the historical Maharal as well as the legends that are linked to his name. Visitors also will learn about the development of the Prague ghetto and the Jewish cemetery in the time of Rabbi Loew.



Best tourist offers in the Czech Republic: Znojmo underground and Techmania Museum

This year, Znojmo and Pilsen can boast the best tourist offers in the Czech Republic. The tours of the mysterious underground in Znojmo and the interactive museum Techmania Science Center in Pilsen were awarded first prize in a competition held by CzechTourism.


Bohemian Switzerland (“České Švýcarsko”) has become the first European Destination of Excellence in the Czech Republic

Bohemian Switzerland became the first holder for the Czech Republic in history of the title EDEN (European Destinations of ExcelleNce). According to the verdict of a special jury, this very destination is best suited to develop tourism within the conditions of a protected natural area. Twenty-one destinations registered in the competition for the marketing brand EDEN, and in the finals the choice was between the tourist areas Králický Sněžník – Śnieżnik, the Orlické Mountains and Podorlicko region, as well as Bohemian Switzerland.
