Largest Josef Čapek exhibition to date offers some 1,000 works
At the Riding School of Prague Castle from October to January 2010, there is being presented the largest retrospective exhibition ever of paintings, drawings and illustrations by Josef Čapek. The exhibition presents nearly 1,000 of Čapek’s works. While people will see here also some well-known works, the core of the exhibition consists of unknown creations. Josef Čapek stands among the most significant personalities of 20th century Czech culture. In addition to visual artworks, Čapek’s literary creations will also be featured. For more, see www.hrad.cz
Austerlitz: the grand battle re-enacted
Anyone who enjoyed playing at soldiers as a kid, who loves history, or who just wants to see something special should certainly head for the South Moravian town of Slavkov u Brna at the end of November. Here, the re enactment of the famous Battle of the Three Emperors will take place. Nearly a thousand enthusiasts will do battle in period uniforms.
