Sporting summer in the Czech Republic
The biggest sporting event this summer is, without question, the Olympics in Beijing; but sports fans need not be left unoccupied in the Czech Republic, either. According to a National Geographic survey last year, Český Krumlov is one of the twenty most beautiful cities in the world. Any visitor to this small south Bohemian town on the Vltava River can only agree: the Renaissance chateau above the river, surrounded by gardens, the romantic lanes and vistas, and the old houses all create a setting as if cut from an epic historical film.
