Winter sports fans have top equipped mountain centres to their disposal, which offer good quality slopes, tracks, bob-sleigh runs and technical sports background. Several localities were chosen for organizing prestigious sports events (the World Cup of ski-flying in Harrachov, Zlatá lyže in Nové Město na Moravě). Ski and snowboard schools provide their services in every skiing centre, as well as ski rentals.
Trekking
In the highest areas of the mountain ranges and plains, where meadows alternate growths of dwarf pines and enable beautiful views of the surrounding, are the best conditions for trekking.
Downhill skiing
Ski centres are very well equipped with ski lifts and every visitor can find the slope to suit him. The conditions are suitable for beginners as well as professionals. Children as well as adults can take the advantage of ski courses led by qualified instructors (also in German and English language).
Snowboarding
Regular ski slopes are available for snowboarding as well as specialized and professionally equipped snowboarding centres. Some of them organize courses for snowboarders of all age categories.
Winter resorts
Most of the winter resorts of the Czech Republic are located in national parks or protected landscape areas. The choice is grand, indeed. The visitors choose either the best-known and most visited Krkonoše with an excellent infrastructure and equipment, or some less popular ski centres located in the romantic corners of Šumava, Orlické hory, Jizerské hory, Jeseníky or Beskydy. Big differences in the equipment and services are reflected on the prices.
Krkonoše
The Krkonoše Mountains are the highest and the most popular Bohemian mountains. Main skiing centres: Špindlerův Mlýn, Pec pod Sněžkou, Harrachov and Rokytnice nad Jizerou.
A tip for the snowboarders: the locality of Prkenný důl – Žacléř.
Orlické hory
Ski resorts: Říčky, Deštné. The terrain is also suitable for bob-sleighing. Attractive long ridges for trekking.
Jizerské hory
Ski slopes: Bedřichov, Špičák, also suitable for trekking.
Krušné hory
Ski slopes: Klínovec, Boží dar. Well-known ski resort Bouřňák.
Šumava
Ski centre Zadov is suitable for all skiing disciplines.
Trekking: Plané.
Ski slopes: Špičák – Železná Ruda.
Českomoravská vysočina
Good conditions for trekking.
Skiing resort: Nové Město na Moravě.
Jeseníky
Good skiing conditions in the area of Ovčárna – Praděd. Červenohorské sedlo is a well-known ski centre.
Beskydy
Beskydy is the largest mountain region in Bohemia. The most popular resorts are Lysá hora and Pustevny.
