The Prague Bells Exhibition
Within the tower of Saint Nicholas’s cathedral in Prague, you can visit a unique exhibition called “Prague Bells”. The exhibition is situated in the narrower tower of the cathedral, which previously served as a watchtower for the Malá Strana quarter. Visitors can learn more about the history of the tower at its entrance.
Underground Mělník and a medieval well
Starting at náměstí Míru, you can make a tour of a part of the underground spaces of Mělník, including a medieval well from the 14th century, the widest well in the Czech Republic, accessible only through a 150 m long underground corridor.
The Žerotín Chateau in Nový Jičín – a new exhibition about the town
Visitors to the Žerotín Chateau in Nový Jičín will be able to view a new exhibit devoted to the history of the town. Archaeological finds recall the construction of the castle of Starý Jičín as well as the later growth of the city at the end of the 13th century. Part of the exhibition known as the ‘Town Treasury’ will display valuable historical objects.
Jihlava Zoo opens its new bear exhibition
Replacing an unsuitable building nearly 50 years old, the Jihlava Zoo has constructed a new exhibition for its Malaysian bears. In this unique cliff-based exhibition with flowing water and rock-side caves, we can see these animals in conditions as near as possible to their natural habitat. The exhibit is open as of April 2009.
New ski complex in Lipno – a family ideal
Reconstruction has transformed the Skiareál Lipno in the Šumava Mountains into the most modern Czech skiing complex as of December 2008. Three new four-seat chairlifts transport twice as many skiers to both peaks of the Kramolín and Slupečný vrch downhill runs. The new Lipno represents the greatest modernisation leap in the history of Czech skiing.
The Czech Republic’s mountains offer high-quality conditions for downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and plenty of other activities. Here, the re enactment of the famous Battle of the Three Emperors will take place. Nearly a thousand enthusiasts will do battle in period uniforms.
