The Sodomka Coachworks – The History of the Sodomka Company

Come and visit the new exhibition in the Vysoké Mýto Regional Museum that documents the history of this well-known company, a flagship of Czech car bodywork, the Sodomka Company. The Sodomka Coachworks in Vysoké Mýto were especially famous in the 1930s and 40s for making elegant and luxurious bodywork for passenger vehicles.
Hana Benešová, Jan Werich, and Jára Kohout are just some of the names of famous people who owned a car with a body made in the Josef Sodomka workshop. It was the production of commercial cars, on the other hand, that laid the foundations for the production of buses, which has successfully continued in Vysoké Mýto to this day.
The exhibition documents all these aspects of the history of the Sodomka Company through period photographs, movies, archive materials and three-dimensional items. A truly unique object in the exhibition is the Aero 50 Dynamik, which proves the creativity and stylistic mastery of its creator. Seven Aero 50 Dynamik vehicles were made and only two remain preserved to this day, one of these being in the prestigious Blackhawk Collection in California in the United States of America.
