The handmade-paper mill at Velké Losiny, a national cultural landmark, has always been an attractive destination for many visitors. In addition to a presentation on traditional paper manufacturing, and a wide range of original products, the museum’s exhibitions have also provided, for more than two decades, a look into the many centuries old history of the craft.
The basic museum visitors’ tour takes us through the most attractive parts of the paper mill. The tour also gives us a detailed look at the entire production process and a visit to the original main workplaces in the traditional production of handmade paper.
The Museum of Paper has extended its existing range of tours at this national cultural landmark, providing an additional tour of the museum. This focuses on the technical “backstage” of traditional paper production – the sources of energy and the drive for the mill’s production equipment. The guided tours, which last approximately 30 minutes, follow on continuously after the basic tour.
From 2007, visitors to the handmade-paper mill can visit a newly opened retail store and the seasonal gallery of the Museum of Paper, both situated in the renovated late-baroque building. Over the entire winter and summer tourist season, visitors can enjoy the stylish LOSÍN restaurant, situated within the grounds of the handmade-paper mill.
