Uncover the secrets of alchemy in an interactive exhibition dedicated to the important Moravian politician and aristocrat Ladislav Velen of Žerotín, his personal doctor M. E. Bonacin, and the alchemy at the dawn of the modern period.
Visitors can look into the finer periods of life in the castle and into the magical world of renaissance alchemy. In the castle tower, there is a restored alchemist’s laboratory with a furnace, coded recipes, mysterious distillation containers, a figure of the alchemist and various other objects. The exhibition has its own interactive elements.
The renaissance chateau in Moravská Třebová is built on the site of a 13th century castle. Other exhibitions are also open in the castle, such as Town Lifestyle in the 17th to the 20th Century, Village Life and the display of the Medieval Torture Chamber with the largest number of replicas of period torture instruments in the Czech Republic. All the instruments are fully functional, and brave visitors can try them out personally.
Groups ordering in advance can arrange visits outside of normal opening times.
