Franz Kafka Museum – Exposition

Premiere type: Monuments and history. We recommend for: Relaxing holiday.
Announced: November 2007

The new, long-term exposition, devoted to Franz Kafka, installed in the premises of Hergert brick-making plant at Malá Strana (the Lesser Town) was born in 1999 in Barcelona.

It originated thanks to the Catalan Centre of Current Culture and completed the pair of previous exhibitions, devoted to the individual towns of renowned world writers (Dublin of James Joyce and Lisbon of Fernando Pessoy). The exhibition offers a view into the world of the famous writer and presents the environment in which Kafka lived in Prague. In the ingeniously conceived installations, making use of the most modern audio-visual technical equipment, the photographs of the people and places, manuscripts and books come to life. So, the visitors have the opportunity to learn how the physical reality of Prague and the life of the author in it changed in a complicated manner into metaphoric images. The content of the exhibition is contained in a representative catalogue, a part of the area is also a shop with a wide offer of books by Kafka.

Lovers of unspoilt countryside will appreciate its upper reaches flowing through the Šumava National Park. But which river is the right one for a summer trip in search of adventure and romance?
