The Goulash Fest is one of the largest and most famous competitions associated with making goulash in the Czech Republic. You can choose approximately thirty to forty kinds of popular dishes from various menus, consisting of classic beef and pork goulash to those varieties made out of venison, wild boar, kangaroo and ostrich, as well as the goulash made in military field kitchens. Of course, there is meatless goulash for vegetarians and several kinds of beers, including yeast, dark and soft beer. The traditional items on the program include contests for the one who can eat the most and for the best goulash from Valašské Meziříčí.
