The second oldest music festival in the Czech Republic takes place in Litomyšl, the birthplace of the founder of Czech national music Bedřich Smetana. The programme includes not only opera performances, gala concerts, oratorios and cantatas, but also ballet and church and promenade concerts. The centre of festival events is the magnificent renaissance chateau grounds with a covered courtyard and unique chateau theatre.
