The St. Wenceslas Music Festival takes place throughout the month in Ostrava and churches and eighteen municipalities of the Moravian-Silesian region. Every year the festival offers several thematic series and dozens of concerts, with the sounds of orchestral, Baroque, chamber and organ music. The opening concert is traditionally held on the feast day of St. Wenceslas, and the festival closes with a concert by the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra on 28th October, the anniversary of the founding of the independent Czechoslovak state.
