Janáček May is the largest and most important festival named after the famous composer. The festival traditionally opens with Janáček’s Sinfonietta, classical music is accompanied by jazz concerts, dance performances and cycles of the spoken word. The festival’s performances are held, in addition to conventional halls, in untraditional locations, for example, in the courtyard of the Silesian-Ostrava Castle and the Mining Museum.
