The autumn harvesting of ponds is the culmination of the year-round work of meticulous fishermen. Grateful spectators are not just rewarded, however, with nets full of fish and demonstrations of the art of fishing, but also the smell of grog and mulled wine, refreshments, and the sale of live fish. The main center of the harvesting is traditionally southern Bohemia, in particular Třeboňsko. The first usually starts in early October at Rožmberk, the largest Czech pond, with the last harvesting taking place at the end of November.
