The Count designed his Neo-Gothic reconstruction exactly according to the saying “My house – my castle”.
He gathered antiquities from the whole of Europe, from furniture, paintings, rugs and carpets, dishes, glass and historical armoury to the subtlest details. But he did not hesitate to use the most advanced equipment of the day for the everyday operation of his “Medieval” household where he loved to change into knightly armour.
In the 19th century, romantic, even a little bit weird Vincent Karel Auersperg inspired by the traditions of Old England transformed his chateau into a medieval manor of knights similar to those in the novels by W. Scott.
