He gathered antiquities from the whole of Europe, from furniture, paintings, rugs and carpets, dishes, glass and historical armoury to the subtlest details. But he did not hesitate to use the most advanced equipment of the day for the everyday operation of his “Medieval” household where he loved to change into knightly armour.
