Chateau Velké Březno

From outside the building is rather reminiscent of a railway station building, but it was equipped with all amenities available in those days for the comfort of the freshly retired.

This former leading politician and his charming wife had numerous guests, among them for example Franz Liszt.

Why visit

The Count Chotek had the one of the newest and smallest Czech chateaux built in the middle of the 19th century, where he wished to spend the autumn of his life. As a youth he toured the whole of Europe and became familiar with the social life in capital cities; after retirement he retreated to the Czech countryside.
