Kratochvíle Chateau: the summer palace of the Rožmberk family
Tour the Renaissance summer palace where famous members of the Rožmberk family – Vilém and Petr Vok – took up residence. In the marshy terrain dotted with ponds a singular building was constructed as a place of merrymaking for the nobility. You, too, can rejoice in the beauty of its unique architecture and the surrounding park, which was inspired by Italian designs. During a tour you will be impressed by its valuable Renaissance interiors, Mannerist decorations and original historical furnishings. Explore its most spectacular room, called the Golden Hall, and also the studies of Vilém and Petr Vok and the Courtier’s Room, which is decorated with scenes from classical mythology.
