Horšovský Týn Chateau

Horšovský Týn

What was life like in the Renaissance and how did the first Japanese in the Czech lands live?

Horšovský Týn

The answers to these questions will be provided by the exhibition in this chateau covered with “envelope” sgraffito, i.e. typical facade decoration used during the Renaissance. You can choose exactly what you want to see from the five tour routes. Whether you give preference to the chateau, the Gothic castle with a chapel or the chateau library is up to you. The “Mitsuko” tour route focuses on Countess Mitsuko Coudenhove-Kalergi, who was brought to the Czech lands at the end of the 19th century by the Austro-Hungarian consul and about whose adventurous fate a soap opera was filmed in Japan.
