Teplice

In the course of the 19th century the spa town in the north of Bohemia was called the Salon of Europe or Little Paris. Included in the lists of Teplice spa guests are a number of names of significant personalities of that time – e.g., Goethe, Beethoven, Wagner, Chopin, Liszt or Paganini. The present-day guests may get acquainted with the history of the local spa, e.g., in the permanent museum exposition located in the premises of the Teplice chateau. The chateau garden conceived as an English park is decorated by a number of minor buildings, promenades, refined through views and sculptures. Remarkable is, especially, the Renaissance entertaining pavilion and Labutí domek (the Little Swan House), covered wharf of trip boats. Apart from the grand spa buildings, the visitors may admire an interesting set of several churches, a popular aim of walks is also the observatory at Písečný vrch and Doubravská hora (Mountain) with the ruin of the castle.
