The open-air museum founded in 1925 is located on the area of 80 ha and has three separate areas: Dřevěné městečko (Wooden town), Mlýnská dolina (Mill valley) and Valašká dědina (Wallachian village). Within the framework of the programme block Wallachian Year the visitors may select from sixty social anthropology and craftsmen programmes for the children and adults, including four international festivals. The museum also takes care of the set of objects at the Pustevny.
