The best preserved Jewish Quarter not only in the Czech Republic, but evidently also in Europe, includes 123 houses, two synagogues, two main streets, the embankment and a number of narrow alleys, public passages and areas. The original special character is completed by the verandas, balconies, wine bars, cafés and numerous shops. The former ghetto has been, together with the nearby basilica of St. Prokop, one of the most beautiful Jewish cemeteries in Moravia, inscribed since 2003 among UNESCO monuments.
