The museum in the chateau of Jilemnice is oriented, first of all, at the history and ethnography of the western Krkonoše (Giant Mountains). The interesting permanent exposition shows the development of skiing in our country and in the world till 1914, the beginnings of the Krkonoše (Giant Mountains) winter and summer recreation and the development of skiing races. A part of the museum is the gallery of the local native and the fore Czech landscape painter, F. Kaván that takes care of the collection of 90 pictures.
