A rarity of the northernmost mountain range of the Czech Republic is, first of all, the number of observation towers. The most frequently visited ones include Královka, Bramberk and Štěpánka, a new observation tower has been since 2003 also at Smrk (1 124 m), the highest mountain of the Jizerské Mountains. Passing through the plateaus is the Jizerská arterial track, a network of cross-country skiing routes where since 1967 every year the long-distance ski race, Jizerská padesátka is organized.
