A Cistercian monastery that was founded in 1259 by Petr Vok of Rožmberk belongs among the best preserved monasteries of the Czech Republic. The local community of the Cistercians gradually reconstructs the object; accessible is the monastery church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary with the Gothic and Baroque inventory, the capitular hall, the third largest library in Bohemia with seventy thousand volumes, the picture gallery and the Post-Office Museum.
