Charles Bridge

The foundations of one of the oldest stone bridges in Europe were laid by Charles IVth. The bridge, 516 m long and almost 10 m wide, is built of sandstone ashlars on 16 pillars and is decorated by thirty wonderful Baroque sculptures and groups of sculptures. At both sides it is fortified by towers – one is Staroměstská tower and two are Malostranské towers.
