Central Moravia

Central Moravia

Picture Two most significant centres of Central Moravia are Olomouc and Kroměříž. Both towns offer, apart from other historic jewels, the treasures inscribed in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. In Olomouc it is the Baroque column of the Holy Trinity, in Kroměříž the Episcopal chateau and two unique gardens – the Podzámecká and Květná gardens. A varied offer of attractive places is represented by the castles Bouzov, Helfštýn and Šternberk, the chateaus Náměšť na Hané, Čechy pod Kosířem, Úsov, Tovačov and the pilgrimage places Svatý Hostýn and Svatý Kopeček u Olomouce. Reminding of the spa traditions is the spa Teplice nad Bečvou, located close are the Zbrašov caves and Hranice abyss. The plain countryside of Central Moravia offers favourable conditions for recreation near water, walking tourism and non-demanding cycling tourism. When visiting Loštice, it is possible to see the plant for the production of the single original Czech cheese, the tvarůžky (cakes of cheese) of Olomouc.
