Picture The centre of the region that belongs among the ecologically most preserved territories of the Czech Republic is Jihlava. The town may boast of valuable historic core and interesting historic underground, there is also the museum of the Vysočina there and a zoological garden. Vast woods with many marked tourist routes are an ideal place for walks and trips, of course, the beauty of the countryside is completed by the works of human hands – the historic towns Pacov, Pelhřimov, Přibyslav, Světlá nad Sázavou and Třešť, the castles Lipnice and Kámen or the chateaus in Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou and Náměšť nad Oslavou. From a number of remarkable monuments three are inscribed in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List – the church of St. John of Nepomuk at Zelená Hora in Žďár nad Sázavou, the Jewish quarter with the cemetery and Roman-Gothic basilica of St. Prokop in Třebíč and the historic core of the town Telč with the Renaissance chateau.
