East Bohemia

Picture The merit of East Bohemia is the rich offer of tourist attractive places, castles, chateaus, church and other monuments in combination with the natural richness from the lowlands of the Labe Basin up to the highest peaks of the Orlické hory (Mountains). Known terms are the Adršpach and Teplice rocks, Broumovské stěny and the Železné hory (Mountains). Those interested in history are attracted both by historic centres of numerous towns, and by the castles Kunětická hora, Lichnice, Litice, Rychmburk and Svojanov. The architectonic jewels include the monastery in Broumov and the chateaus in Opočno, Pardubice, Častolovice, Nové Hrady and Slatiňany. The birthplace of the musical composer Bedřich Smetana, Litomyšl, is inscribed, thanks to the wonderful Renaissance chateau, in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. The highly attractive place is also the zoological garden and safari in Dvůr Králové nad Labem or the open-air museum Vysočina in Hlinsko and surroundings.
